From the old school and far afield rural areas to the big cities like Chicago and Detroit, anywhere that Irish people gather there will be St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The whole world turns green on St Patrick’s Day and everyone is Irish.
From the rural villages in the homeland, to the major cities around the world, on this day the world turns green and gives a salute to the men and women from Ireland.
St Patrick was a man born in Britain about 385AD, as a boy of 14 he was brought to Ireland as a slave. After spending more than 6 years in slavery tending to sheep he left and studied abroad. He then returned at the age of thirty to convert the Celts and the pagans and heathens to Christianity.
St Patrick always used the shamrock to illustrate what he called the holy trinity and that is why it is now the national plant of Ireland. He was also known for driving out the snakes from Ireland.
St Patrick’s Day is not renowned for giving gifts but if you are going to get a St Patricks Day gift for someone, then the ideal solution will be a gift that is either green or represents Ireland in some way by, say, getting gifts that have photos of shamrocks on them.
