Father’s day is the day to mark and to celebrate the contributions that our fathers have made to our lives. most people send cards or give gifts to their fathers. Likewise they make sure that their fathers are given a lovely meal and that they take the time to spend time with them during the course of the day.

Common Father’s Day gifts include beer steins, coffee mugs, tee shirts, sports items or other clothing, electronic gadgets, outdoor cooking supplies, and tools for household maintenance.

Father’s day is a pretty new holiday so many families have some traditions in place but many families are just creating those traditions. Common traditions for Father’s day can range from a short phone call to an hour-long chat. What they do for their family will vary from a simple phone call or greetings card to large parties honoring all of the ‘father’ figures in a particular extended family.

Father figures in the case of father’s day are things like, Uncles, friends, fathers, step-fathers, fathers-in-law, grandfathers and great-grandfathers, and even other male relatives. In the days and weeks before Father’s Day, many schools and churches help the students to prepare a handmade card or small gift for their fathers.

Father’s Day is not a federal holiday. Organizations, businesses, and stores are open or closed, just as they are on any other Sunday in the year. Public transit systems run to their normal Sunday schedules. Restaurants may be busier than usual, as some people take their fathers out for a treat.
